I was mildly disappointed
when we arrived in Holland
that Queen Beatrix wasn't
there to meet us at the
airport. You'd think, you know,
after we'd come such a long way
and from such a big important
country as the United States
...and Anneke having been away for so long…but we'll give H.R.H. the benefit of the doubt, that she might have had important matters of State to tend to.
Nevertheless, we were met be Anneke's sister and her two little boys (more on them later), who watched us get our bags from the carousel through a big see-through wall. After a couple of train rides and a taxi to handle our Big Loads of luggage, we settled into Anneke's

characteristic of Utrecht's
skyline is the
Dom Toren
...which is Dutch for Cathedral Tower. It's about a hundred meters high, making it the biggest such tower in all of Holland.
Here are our first
hosts, during European
odyssey, Mr. Hans and
Mrs. Jannie Heij. That's
"Heij", pronounced
halfway between
"hey" and "hi"...sort of like they sometimes say in the South, here in America. Well, they showed us a quick good time for just about 3 days; we rode bikes, saw a few sights, learned where to get medicine for my allergies…(pictured is Anneke riding back of my bike, which she explained is the Dutch way, even for adults) But this was just a momentary stop...for we were soon off to Pareeee…….
