But first -- let's go visit one of my friends...in Rotterdam!
I knew Cora from San Diego, friend of my girlfriend in those days, and I rented a room at her place. Well, Cora is very happy to be back in a sane country like Holland, and she took a little time to show us around. At my request, we went up the Euromast -- a great big tower from which you can see all Rotterdam and beyond. There I am with her up there, wind blowing wildly in our hair, and there's Anneke with Cora (they had a lot to talk about, you know, divorce, female hormones and stuff), and note -- in the background, the Swan, yes, see that strangely sculptural suspension bridge? Take another look and notice how it litterally dwarfs the skyscrapers around it. The thing is HUGE! Do you hear me? Colossal!
We went down to a little old section and had tacos, right outside the original church that the famous Pilgrim Fathers left, to come ultimately to America where they nearly starved to death, all for their pigheaded puritanical intolerant religious doctrine.
But I'm not bitter or anything.
