served for millennia as a military outpost, conquered by every group of bullies that passed the seaside corridor between Italy and Spain. It just so happens that we know somebody who lives there, Anne Dominique, that is Anneke's son's father's former wife. The red circle, above, shows the bedroom window where Anneke and I were guest for about 5 days. Before we came to Europe, I told Anneke "I just want to see something more than 200 years old!" Well, this one was more like 2,000 years old, with ages of concrete patches and renovations. Photos here are: the town; a typical street; a planter on a wall; and this curiosity: a little gated alter corner in the church, with a teddy bear placed at the feet of Jesus. A great place to just explore the catacomb-like streets and get lost in days of old. Important note: If you ever go there, you must try Tom's Ice Cream -- Take my word, it rivals the best product of Italy!
